Erika has always been interested in style and fashion, in all its forms. Clothing, shoes, jewelry, accessories, home decor – you name it. Her personal taste tends to lean towards the unique and quirky, with a fondness for color and fun prints.
The idea for HappyButton Baby came to Erika just after the birth of her son. At home with a newborn, she now had a whole new category of fashion to explore – the wonderful world of baby items. What she found, however, left something to be desired. There were tons of beautiful items, but they were mass produced and a little too cookie-cutter for her taste. She also found that many bibs were made with a single layer (which isn’t nearly absorbent enough for teething babies and toddlers), and that many toys and teething items were still primarily made of plastics and other questionable materials. So, she started browsing for fun fabrics and natural teething items, with an idea to make her own baby items.
Erika enjoyed the process of designing and creating so much, she decided to start a small local business which would allow her to share her passion with others. She truly believes that baby and children’s items can serve a practical function, while still being fashionable and fun – Practical doesn’t have to mean boring!
